I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand to be around social media lately. Although it seems to be a widely effective tool for what I do on my show, it’s still better in small doses to me. There are posts filled with pictures, comments, and advertisements for everything I’m involved in sent out several times daily. I do that with the help of services like Buffer and Hootsuite to spread it all across the vast social media hotspots that are linked up on The Big John Show website. I do this for not only my site, but for TBJS Radio Network (www.tbjsradio.com) and Pornaudiography (www.Pornaudiography.com) and it saves me time along with headaches of getting all that out there during my already busy schedule to keep things going across the board. There comes a time when and if you want to promote something about your goods or services that you want to cover as much ground as you can when it comes to advertising it. Be it an event, special offer, or invitation, it’s important to spread it out across the mass media, in this case, social media. However, there are limits and depending on your own personal limitations, you might get to a wall. A point to where you get tired of seeing so many people post so much negativity or other things that get you riled up to when you just throw your hands up and say “no more!” Or as to what my Mexican brother from a different mother would say, “No Mas Amigos!”

From what I could tell, the month of June was a massive explosion for misinformation. It was a battlefield of explosions and disastrous communication. I don’t talk about it much, but I’ve always been quick to see or detect patterns, especially when they change direction or course. I could tell the algorithms had changed in the Google search engine twice since April 2020. I also could tell that Facebook changed four times in the last three months. Two times were last month alone. Twitter has remained mostly, but there was a few tweaks here and there in places. The one that got the most attention was what happened with President Donald Trump over a tweet he made about some protesters (https://www.newsweek.com/twitter-blocks-users-liking-sharing-trumps-tweet-george-floyd-protesters-says-it-glorifies-1507275). It escalated even further when the White House reached out to Twitter for their actions (https://www.theverge.com/2020/5/29/21274493/donald-trump-twitter-feud-blocked-message-social-media-executive-order).The Mainstream News hit that like it was a red light special in Amsterdam. If I had to give June a new nickname, it would be the month of Missed Information.

Another strange point is the fact that I was in Facebook Jail for 24 hours recently. It started with a picture I posted that I copied from another friend. About thirty seconds after I posted it, I got a stern warning from Facebook saying I had violated their rules. When I called them out on it, they didn’t say anything until I posted a second picture that was already posted on another friends page, that’s when they slapped me back with another violation and put me in facebook jail (https://www.facebook.com/thebigjohnshow/posts/3624492270901097). By the way, my friend who I got the pictures off their pages didn’t get into any trouble with Facebook. So why did I? Now I have a warning on my page that only I can see that says I am going to be watch for a year should I post anything else they deem “offensive” to their rules. This is one of the many reasons I have decided to slowly make my migration over to Parler (https://www.parler.com/profile/TheBigJohnShow/). However, I know for a fact I’m not the only one moving over to them because I have seen several people, before and after I created my page, start their move over as well.

I told the people earlier this week on my facebook, if you see my any of my messages, consider it a blessing because they survived the another round of my Facebook “friends” purge: 130 this week, plus 152 a couple of weeks ago. If you feel disappointed that you are still on my friends list, please feel free to remove yourself at your earliest convenience. I did this because I’m so tired of seeing the negativity on my facebook stream. I’ve quit following some people on there, next step will be removal. Twitter is just as bad, if not worse. The only difference is the shorter attention span that twitter allows you to have with each post, unless you go looking for it directly. I can’t believe how many businesses and people want to dwell on the negative spin of politics, COVID-19, and Rioting. Guys, I am telling you the honest truth when I say if you quit watching the Mainstream News, some of your stress will go away. Not all, but some and it will be enough to clear your head a little more so you can think better. Quit giving it so much power over you that it prevents you from doing anything positive or productive.

Some people are just regurgitating what they see on the TV news and it’s just the same thing over and over, but written or shown in a different way. Give it a break, will ya? Honestly, I can’t tell you what to put on your pages, but I sure as hell can prevent what I see on my social media stream. If you want to talk facts, if you want to talk truth, then get down to the heart of the matter and deal with that first. I say this all the time: It’s an election year, anything (I do mean ANYTHING) can and will happen! Guys, things are bad enough without you spreading the negativity and getting people riled up / stressed out even more. The way some people are on their social media leaves me shaking my head. Honestly, I don’t know how some people don’t drown when they drink a glass of water or choke whenever they take a breath of fresh air. Common sense, people. Common damn sense….

One contributing factor I think that helps drive people mad is the algorithm that social media uses, such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to name a few. Each one of them will use a system that only shows you what that particular social media company wants you to see. Granted, you can search for a specific person or profile page and it will come up if you are not blocked, but you have to go looking for it. It may not be in your newsfeed for easier access to see the content you want because it doesn’t fit the algorithm. Keep that in mind as when you publish your posts and comments. Not everyone will see them unless you want to pay for them to be seen by a wider audience. That’s how facebook makes their money. Currently, you only get four or five for every 100 of your “friends” who will see your facebook posts. If a “friend” decides to share that post or comment, then the same thing happens for them with only four or five people. If one of their “friends” share, the pattern repeats. If you want to pay Facebook to “boost” your post (allowing more people to see it), then you will have to pay for it, just like advertising (https://www.facebook.com/business/help/240208966080581?id=352109282177656).

That same message can go to businesses that post things on social media and get upset when people don’t react to in the timely fashion or demand they expected. If you don’t understand how social media works, then it’s high time to do some research, but be warned: when you do start to get a grasp of it, companies like Facebook and Twitter will change it on you again. So get ready for constant disappointment because they won’t let you get past their gates without paying the price of admittance. Not just financially either, I’m talking about content wise and politically. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is having his fourth-point-of-contact handed to him because of advertising withdrawls from the likes of Coca-Cola, Pfizer, Microsoft, Adidas, Lego, Procter & Gamble, Starbucks, Hershey’s, Ford Motor Co. and Verizon are among the biggest names to join the #StopHateforProfit campaign being led by a coalition of civil rights groups including the NAACP and the Anti-Defamation League (https://www.ajc.com/news/facebook-losing-millions-dollars-companies-cut-off-advertising/IcIaAw1q9aGBH9Co1ReyMJ/). More than 400 global companies are withholding millions of dollars in advertising on Facebook for a month or possibly longer to pressure the social media giant to take a stronger stance against misinformation and hate speech on the platform. In response to all this, Mark Zuckerberg is expected to meet with civil rights leaders in the coming weeks after defying recent public pressure to take action on inflammatory posts by President Donald Trump that spread misinformation about mail voting and suggested violence against protesters nationwide.

Courtesy of President Trump’s crackdown on the rioters, looters, and thugs in the streets, the entities pulling the strings are starting to figure out they can’t get to you that way, so now they are going to come for your wallet. It’s not about financial gain either, although it doesn’t hurt to make a few bucks on the side out of this whole mess, have you seen the cost of masks at Walmart lately? For a 10 count package, it will cost nearly nine dollars (https://www.walmart.com/ip/10-ct-Pack-Disposable-3-Ply-Face-Masks/459279944). That’s not the N95 or surgical grade quality either. Hospitals and clinics are having a hard time getting those right now. Do you realize that the average person would run through that in a day with the current CDC guidelines? Yeah, you can’t tell me there isn’t any money being made during this “pandemic”

But let’s all just take a deep breath and turn it down a few notches because according to a new study, all these protests did not cause spike in coronavirus cases. Yeah, you heard me. According to a team of economists who have published their findings in a 60-page paper released by the National Bureau of Economic Research (https://www.nber.org/papers/w27408.pdf), these protests against systemic racism held in 300-plus cities across the country following the death of George Floyd did not cause a significant increase in coronavirus infections. They determined all this based on cell phone data. They say it revealed that “cities which had protests saw an increase in social distancing behavior for the overall population relative to cities that did not,” leading to “modest evidence of a small longer-run case growth decline.”  I’m not kidding you, but from what I can tell from the media, a lot of those people in the protests and riots were not exercising social distancing. In fact, that wasn’t even the last thing on their mind. So what gives? What’s the real story? Oh, wait… I know, it’s because we all tried to resume our normal lives and made it more difficult for the ones who want either more control or to be controlled. Those who want to be controlled are the same ones who got participation trophies as a kid. Those who want more control are the same people who were bullied as kids and get a thrill when they can over-extend their abuse of power.

This brings me to my next point: Thank you, Protesters and Rioters, for making several states rollback on their phases for opening back up. This includes those who were wearing their virtue signaling cloth masks. Because of you not exercising your social distancing requirement for COVID-19, great states like Texas and Florida are now limiting their businesses again. State Fairs, Concert venues, and community events (Oktoberfest) are being canceled left and right. Not only are the rioters breaking the laws (what I call “Rioters Privilege”), you now sent people back into their homes and business are getting closed down AGAIN. Just for the record, some of us would like to have a job to go to and we can’t if you keep getting the state governments riled up because you can’t keep your social distance and practice safe protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (you know, that thing your liberal dark lords keep panicking about) and some being forced to wear a mask.

SO I make this suggestion: For all these rioters and protesters (peaceful and violent), it should be made mandatory that if you are going to go outside doing your thing, you should have to wear an N95 mask or at least a medically approved surgical mask. Not some costume, not some cloth, you have to have an actual medical surgical mask / N95. Not one you get at the hardware store or Walmart for allergies. A lot of you were the same people who complained about other people not wearing masks when they go outside. You are the same people who complain that shoppers aren’t obeying the rules in the aisles of walmart. Your mama’s must be proud so proud of you for earning your participation trophy for being a social warrior.

I am so sick and tired of the double standard. Media, political clowns, and the extreme sides are stirring the toilet bowl, feeding the Kool-aid to the followers, and people of all color think it’s the gravy train! I can’t even imagine why they think this is all a good thing. I guess if I was drunk of the toilet bowl wine, I would think it’s the greatest thing since the waffle was created. Well, except those in Oregon, you can’t blame them. They have a free pass on wearing their masks: “People of color who have heightened concerns about racial profiling and harassment due to wearing face coverings in public” (https://www.co.lincoln.or.us/hhs/page/statement-lincoln-county-leadership-62420). Nope, they can do whatever they want. (<—- Sarcasm!)

Apparently, we can cut funding to the police, or actually defund the whole department completely, but we can’t keep history up on the city square or streets. Even when these protesters don’t understand true history because they didn’t care to learn or it wasn’t taught in school. I guess with the imaginary organizations like Antifa (https://twitter.com/i/status/1276246266641604616) going around pushing their propaganda, then maybe we got it all wrong. Maybe they are the ones who are right. Maybe the Kool-aid man will come bust through the wall on a unicorn while the Lucky Charms Leprechaun riding Toucan Sam will come flying up from behind sprinkling marshmallow treats from the sky. Maybe we should start defunding schools who don’t teach real history to their students? And since some schools hand out participation trophies, how about we quit wasting thousands of dollars on sports departments? What’s the point of sending our kids to public schools if they aren’t learning?

Guess what guys, guess who’s next on the “Great Awokening of 2020” racial agenda? YOU ARE! Look at all the businesses who have changed their names, logos, and services because they don’t want to be “offensive”. Systematic Racism is exactly what it sounds: Systematic. Meaning, everyone one is a target one way or the other. Who ever is pushing this is not going to stop until there is a system wide crash. Image an airplane with full capacity flying 20,000 feet in the air with a wing on fire. Pretty soon, the fire is going to spread to the engine. Once the engine goes, it cause a serious problem. It gets pretty hard to fly at that moment, but there is still a 50/50 chance of survival. Eventually that plane is going to go down because the fire is consuming it, not caring, indiscriminately. Fire doesn’t care what color, creed, or origin. It’s going to burn until it can’t. The real question is, what are you going to do to prevent that fire from burning any more before you crash down?
